Question Two computers working as one?

I remember reading somewhere where hundreds of people came together with their computers, connected them together and created a small 'supercomputer'.

Now I have two computers, I don't use the other one for anything since I don't have a extra screen, keyboard, mouse, CD-ROM, etc.. I was wondering if it would be possible to harvest the power of the other computer somehow using some Linux distribution possible?

If it's possible, where would I get information on how to do it? It would be really cool.

there are variouse applications for that on sourcefore, sorry, cant remember the name.
cluster somthing.

but the 2 will only work together to run programs delibratly programmed to be used in this way.
if you are thinking you can hook 2 pc's together to get a faster desktop, or gaming system, forget it.

One option is to build your own Beowulf cluster as described here although these kinds of systems are really intended to be built with dozen or even hundreds of PC's, not just two. I know almost nothing about clustering, but I don't think its really intended on being used with 2 PC's. It could be a cool weekend project though -- J.W.

If you compile a lot of stuff from source you could use distcc to let both systems help each other build a single package.

You may want to try Mosix

What you want to do is called clustering, making two or more computers work together. There was already a post on this kind of thing that can get you started with clustering, go here-
