TwinMOS USB MMC card reader
 

hi guys! good day!

im having this problem about redhat 9 not detecting my usb card reader. TwinMOS MMC card reader. i have 2 usb ports the other one i use for my camera. i tried my camera and it did work. i did not do no editing in the /etc/fstab but it appeared there when i checked and it also added a new directory to the /mnt directory named /camera. by the way the device name for the camera was /dev/sda1. i decided to try my card reader on the second port. (both port works because i use them both in windows2000 partition) redhat did not detect my card reader so it tried restarting and i also removed the camera, i unmounted it first. i did not remove the usb cardreader in assumption that redaht will detect it on the boot up process. it did not and when i checked the /mnt directory the /camera directory was also gone and in the /etc/fstab its entry was also gone. it did not also detect the card reader even if i plugged it in before restarting and redhat "searched for new hardware in its boot process". so what i did was to edit the /etc/fstab file. i did not know what to add since i dont know the device name and i guessed and added this line:

usbdevfs /proc/bus/usb auto noauto,owner,kudzu 0 0

i also tride this line(i created a directory in the /mnt forlder named /usbdrive)

/dev/sda /mnt/usbdrive auto noauto,owner,kudzu 0 0

after doing so. i tried mounting it and each time i mount it i get this error:

[mntent]: warning: no final newline at the end of /etc/fstab
mount: special device usbdevfs does not exist

so i decided to reboot again and hope that redhat 9 will detect my new hardware. it did not and one thing i noticed in the boot process when linux loads the /etc/fstab file, it also displays the error:

warning: no final newline at the end of /etc/fstab

i have exhausted all my options and don't know what to do. i am new to linux, i just started 5 days ago and i like the challenge of trying out new things. i searched the net for the settings above but no luck, it did not work.
