Post Tweak Ubuntu 8.10 on Pentium 3-600Mhz-128MB Ram

Hello,
i got an old pentium 3 - 600Mhz with 128MB of Ram, 4Gb Hdd, CDrom.
as an linux supporter and fanatic i tried to install ubuntu 8.10 on it yesterday, the first thing was a slowest install process (result in very long install time) but my ubuntu it's installed now, what i need is how to tweak ubuntu by increasing poweron and poweroff time (if it's the right word for that).
and is it a good idea to install edubuntu on it after fixing the first problem (system speed ...)?
thanks for your help ...

Hi,

Take a look at
http://www.google.com/search?q=tweak...nt=iceweasel-a

You should use a light weight windowmanager (xfce, fvwm, fluxbox...)

Turn off any processes you do no need. Use a light weight wm rather than gnome/kde/xfce

thanks craigevil for the tips !
cuz i did try couples of tweaking tips but i got a cmd line screen like "X Server cannot be started ..." that's not good for me now cuz i need this P3 to work with X (i'll use this PC to show to people that ubuntu can run on old fashioned PC).
than for links i'll see and choose what is better for now.
