TV-out in Linux

Anyone know what the configuration of the XF86Config file should be for TV-out on an ATI Radeon 7000 in Mandrake Linux?

I've tried several configurations but nothing works. Whenever I boot to Linux with my S-video cable connected to my TV, the X-server doesn't load and all I get is the command line login. TV-out works fine in WinXP though.

TV-out isn't part of the normal XFree86 drivers for the ATI cards... look into the gatos drivers: gatos.sf.net

Already did and even those didn't seem to work. Even tried that "atitvout" program but nothing.

Have a look at http://www.retinalburn.net/linux/
they have drivers for various ATI chipsets.

I have a ATI chipset with tv-out aswell, I haven't tried the drivers yet but when I have some time I will.

No luck to date. I've by now gone through a whole bunch of websites, XF86Config settings and programs but still nothing. So far the only success I've had is in getting a DVD to play using Mplayer in text mode, which is the only way I can get the TV-out to work in Mandrake.
