Turning On/Off CPUs with Redhat 7.1

Hi ,
I was hoping someone could tell me if its possible to turn off CPUs on a mulitprocessor machine. I have done this in Solaris using psrinfo but there doens't seem to be the same command on Redhat.

Does anyone know if this is possible on RedHat and if so whats the command?

I'm almost absolutely certain that its just not possible. Linux is pretty advanced, but that's really advanced.
