Turning off tapping on touchpad doesnt work

I added the line MaxTapTime to /etc/X11/xorg.conf to turn off the tapping. But even after restarting it's still there. Anyone know of a problem? I am running Suse 10.1

Section "InputDevice"
Driver "synaptics"
Identifier "Mouse[3]"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
Option "Emulate3Buttons" "on"
Option "Name" "Touchpad"
Option "SHMConfig" "on"
Option "Vendor" "Synaptics"
Option "MaxTapTime" "0"
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"

Also when I run synclient -l I get a message that shared memory cannot be accessed and is SHMConfig on.
