Trying to mount cdrom and keep getting, You must specify filesystem type?

I have tried many different ways of mounting and I keep getting, you must specify filesystem type.
any idea why I keep getting this message when the filesystem type is specified? and in fstab, is it supposed to be USER or USERS?

thanks

mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom
mount auto /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom
mount -t iso iso9660 /dev/cdrom/ /mnt/cdrom
mount /dev/hdc /mnt/cdrom

Heres fstab.

/dev/hda2 swap swap defaults 0 0
/dev/hda1 / reiserfs defaults 1 1
/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom auto noauto,users,ro 0 0
/dev/dvd /mnt/dvd iso9660 noauto,user,ro 0 0
/dev/sda1 /mnt/sda1 auto noauto,users,rw 0 0
/dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy auto noauto,owner 0 0
/dev/sda2 /mnt/camera auto noauto,users,rw 0 0
devpts /dev/pts devpts gid=5,mode=620 0 0
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0

Also, what are you trying to mount? If it's a blank CD or audio CD, you won't be able to mount it (because it lacks a valid file system). You will only be able to mount data CD's
