I am having no luck with this: I have a system with an Intel dq35jo motherboard, two sata hard drives, and an ide cd/dvd drive. When I run the linux installer (I've tried Ubuntu 10.04, Debian 5.0, and Fedora 13 all with the same results), the installer hangs when attempting to detect drives. I've searched around and I see that I'm
not the only one to

problem, but none of the workarounds I can find seem to make any difference.
Note, when I say the installer hangs, I mean it totally hangs. Even keyboard/mouse input stops entirely. Have to hard reset the machine to try again. This machine was up until recently running windows without a problem, so I'm almost positive this isn't a case of bad memory or a faulty processor. I've tried going into the bios and switching between ide/ahci without any change in outcome. I don't know what else I can try here.
Has anyone successfully installed a recent version of any linux on a system with this motherboard? Is it even possible or am I just wasting my time?
