Trouble with Mounting DVD/CD-RW drive

My CD/DVD-rom drive is able to play music and data CDs but I am unable to open DVDs. When I try to mount it, I get the following error:

mount /dev/sr0
mount: block device /dev/sr0 is write-protected, mounting read-only
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sr0,
missing codepage or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
dmesg | tail or so

when I type in /etc/fstab I get:

/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 / ext3 defaults 1 1
LABEL=/boot /boot ext3 defaults 1 2
devpts /dev/pts devpts gid=5,mode=620 0 0
tmpfs /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0
/dev/VolGroup00/LogVol01 /home ext3 defaults 1 2
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
sysfs /sys sysfs defaults 0 0
LABEL=SWAP-isw_bagfah swap swap defaults 0 0

How am I suppose to mount the DVD-rom drive? Thanks!

First, are you SURE you've got a DVD drive? If you can mount data CD's, you use the same mount command for data DVD's. However, if you put a DVD into a CD drive, you'll get the error you specify above.

I am pretty sure it is a DVD drive as the physical drive itself has the DVD R/RW, DVD Rewritable and CD Rewritable icons. The thing is, I have 2 drives. One is the mentioned drive and the other is a similar drive but with blueray as well. When I am in Computer, it only shows one CD-RW/DVD+/-RW Drive. How can I tell if the drive has DVD capabilities?
