Trouble mounting cd's

I'm having a hard time getting cd's to mount reliably.
my fstab is setup right and the mount point is there.
Some cd's mount fine.
others fail and mount gives the typical bad fstype or too many mounts error.
which seems to be the only error message it ever gives and tells me very little.
the disks in question mount ok on my mac and other machines but on none of my linux systems.
what should i be looking for?

thanks

To add to Andrew's post - you do need to mount data CD's; you don't need to mount audio CD's. -- J.W.

thanks,
yeah they were audio CD's. why is it that they can't get mounted like a data CD?
I realize that you don't need to mount them to play them. Just curious.

Because they don't contain data files, they contain cdda (compact disk digital audio), a music format.
