Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Question Tp-link tl-wn751nd Wireless Adapter

I'm looking to buy a wireless adapter to use with all my linux machines and was wondering if anyone has had any luck with TP-LINK TL-WN751ND?

The URL is to the one that BestBuy sells. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/TP-Link+...rds&cp=1&lp=13

Problems...

There are many reports of this card causing a system freeze very shortly after making a wireless connection. Google will tell you more.

I bought a TL-WN851ND(AR9227) and it too exhibits the same fault. The best explanation I found was that the cause is a bug in the kernel and it should be corrected in version 3.3.

Thank you.

I only have about a $20.00 USD limit that I can spend on buying one.

Are there any good ones that will work that fit my price range? They will be going in to a Desktop and due to the amount of usb devices, I don't see USB being an option.

Wish I knew, try used...

I've tried the Internet for reports of working wireless adapter cards and didn't find any that I could buy new in my market in Denmark; I've been looking at cards sold used. I then google assiduously for problems and crisis reports, something I didn't do enough of the last time. Then I concentrated on lists of well supported cards, as both of these are.

The problem is that the freeze as freeze doesn't figure dominantly in the Internet search results, only in the behavior of the card in hand. I also suspect that the best development resources have left the problem and gone on to better things, leaving this without a solution.

For my part, I wanted a card with an antenna since the wireless signal has to be picked up after going through a few walls and a gas stove. Life in the big city.
