Touchscreen monitor on Dell laptop with OpenSuse 11.1 ?

Hi
I'm running OpenSuse 11.1 with a Dell Inspiron 6400. I just bought a Medion Multi-Touchscreen-Monitor cos they were going cheap at the local supermarket. It says the touchscreen works with Windoze 7 only, but I thought its worth a go as I have 30 days to try before taking it back.

The monitor output works fine. I had to adjust the resolution setting but that's okay. However, when I plug in the touchscreen usb lead I've no success yet. I tried all the touchscreen Vendor/Name options in Yast->Hardware->graphics card/monitor but to no avail.

My dmesg output is:
Quote:
usb 4-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 5
usb 4-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
drivers/hid/usbhid/hid-core.c: usb_submit_urb(ctrl) failed
usbhid: timeout initializing reports
hiddev96hidraw1: USB HID v1.10 Device [PixArt Imaging Inc. Optical Touch Screen] on usb-0000:00:1d.2-1
usb 4-1: New USB device found, idVendor=0408, idProduct=3001
usb 4-1: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=0
usb 4-1: Product: Optical Touch Screen
usb 4-1: Manufacturer: PixArt Imaging Inc.
/usr/sbin/lsusb gives:
Quote:
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 003 Device 002: ID 062a:0000 Creative Labs Optical mouse
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 004 Device 005: ID 0408:3001 Quanta Computer, Inc.
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub

Any hope/ideas?

It wouldn't be in graphic's card/monitor. It would most likely be in mouse, as that's what touchscreens are for. While they are in the same container, they are separate devices. Have you tried unplugging your other mouse, then starting the computer? Perhaps there's a mouse conflict.

Is it a multitouch monitor? i'm not sure if 11.1 supports multitouch, and that would explain the win7 only label.

Tried fiddling with mouse options/unplugging etc but no success.
From what I can see I think multi-touch support is the OpenSuse pipeline, I'll have another look in a while.

Cheers
