Thunderbird stopped connecting to internet

When I first installed TB 1.5.0.9 in kubuntu 6.10 it worked fine. Then I installed CrossoverOffice 6.0, QuickBooks 2001, TurboTax 2005 and tried unsuccessfully to install TT 2006. I think that's when TB stopped picking up e-mail, following links, etc.

I assume you are sure your internet setup is working?

Can you ping internet IPs?

Do other programs requiring network functionality work?

What is the output of /sbin/route and /sbin/ifconfig?
