TFT (DVI) on linux
This is a really stupid question but will a tft monitor work via the dvi connection? Will this just work straight away like a normal d-15 connection?
Cheers ps. it's b/c im getting a gorgeous brand new LG tft 16ms 17inch for my b-day pressie :D |
Congrats, and you shouldn't have a problem with either DVI or HD15 on an LCD monitor.
Just edit the XF86config/XF86config-4 file first. |
what do I edit it to?
Is it possible to get it to output to both ports? Thanks |
I didn't have to do anything when I got a lcd monitor (acer AL1731m)
It just worked with my old monitor's settings (1280x1014 85hz) though obviously it was only 60hz. Later I found Fedora's display settings and changed the monitor type to a generic 1280x1024 lcd display, restarted X and found nothing different. There was one line changed in XFRee86-config, but I can't check it now, i'm at work. |
I having problems with my new TFT monitor (DVI). My Mandrake boots up normally but when GUI's supposed to appear, screen goes blank and gives a message that screen is out of signal.
I know that I should edit my XF86Config, but I'm not sure what to write and where? I already tried to change Driver="VGA" to Driver="vesa" but it didn't help. |
Oh yeah, forgot to mention.
My TFT is LG's Flatron L1710B . |
hehehehe, it came today...... omgomgomg, it's sooo nice
Anyways, you may know what's wrong with this seeing as you have the same monitor.... (this is more of a hardware issue, not linux) I plugged in the tft through the dvi connection and the colours are really bad. For some reason they seem all swapped around ?!?! When it posts the text is white and then around where it kind of blurs it's blue. Any ideas? Cheers p.s. it seems a shame if i spent the extra £30 for the dvi connection and i can't get it to work correctly :( |

Tell me if you have solved this :D |

With a resolution of 1280*1024 LG's refresh rate goes up only to 60 Hz. Maybe I should check that out. I thought I changed it... :) One solution could be throwing my Mandrake away and installing Gentoo instead. I have heard many good things about it. |
Cool, cheers....
Dya know anything about the dvi connection? Do your colours look right when yopu plug it in via DVI? Cheers |
I use the DVI-connection in Windows XP and it works fine. Colours look right and they're sure brighter than in CRT-monitors. I haven't even tried good-old 15-pin VGA-connection with this TFT.
