synaptic touchpad, kcminit signal 4

Hiya gang,
I just found the synamptic driver for the touchpad in my Inspiron 5000 (G600GT) and decided to give it a try. It seems to work okay, and I really dig being able to scroll with the edge of the pad now. BUT (you knew that was comming, didn't you?) after I got it installed, along with the KSynaptic control center module for KDE, I've been getting a kcminit crash, signal 4, every time I start KDE. After I click "OK" KDE runs fine, so it's not a major deal. I'd just like to figure out the cause and resolve it. I'm not sure if it happens in Gnome or not, I didn't think to check. I'll post back in a minute to let you know. Any ideas?

Just checked, and it doesn't happen in Gnome. I can live with it if I have to, but that seems....Windows-ish to me.
