Switching from X to Console messes up screen

marsonist Member Registered: Sep 2002 Location: Stuttgart, Germany Distribution: SuSE 9.1 Pro Posts: 171 Rep:	Switching from X to Console messes up screen My best friend has a an AMD 64 based laptop with an nVidia GeForce FX Go5650 64MB and a screen capable of 1400 x 1050... While booting all of the framebuffered console messages look perfect, no problem. Once in X everything looks pretty normal, minus a split second flicker ever 5 or 10 minutes. Trying to ctrl+alt+F1, F2, etc will result in an extremely garbled screen that is completely unreadable. Shutting down the machine results in the same garble. Any thoughts on what might be causing that random split second flicker, and the inability to go back to console once X is started? Thx, Steve
