Suse got broke and now YaST2 gui dont work...
Hi.
I am a relatively new user to current versions of linux in that I last used it 12 years ago(slackware) and in those days it was hack hack hack. but now since using Suse 8.0 I am impressed enough to get rid of Winblows finely.
Well on to the problem.
I installed Suse just fine. No glitches at all. I then upgraded KDE 3.0.1 to KDE 3.0.3 and I got all kinds of issues. I lost sound support. Lost Nvidia_GLX driver support. I lost YAST2 GUI support.(it works in xterm using ncurses)
Ok. what I did.
Fixed Nvidia_GLX drivers. Fixed Kernel Sound support(ALSA kernel driver remake)
But.
1) YAST2 refusers to load in KDE or GNOME. or any GUI for that matter.
2) Gmix and Kmix dont work at all. but Artds Tool works for sound volume control.
My system:
Athlon 1gig, 512mb Asus A7v, 30gig ata133 drive
SBLIVE 5.1 DE, with Digital out to Kenwood A/V receiver.
Geforce 2 Pro/17 inch Monitor.
Everything I have used in terms of operability essentially works except that some apps(namely YaST2, kmix, gmix) dont.
Anybody have any ideas.
I would much appreciate it.
Thanks.
