suse/fedora wont install with amd 3200+
 
I am having problems while loading both fedora core 4 and suse 9.2(64 bit) on a new pc with config AMD athlon 64 bit 3200+, rs480 mb (PCI Express)from MSI, 512mb zeon ram,samsung 40 hdd.While loading both of them they are showing kernel panic afters some time and the installation halts.

Anybody has experieced similar kind of problem?any pointers on this will be great.

could you give us more details? Like the last few line of the kernel panic message (or a picture cuold be great if you have a camera, maybe) ?

I have this board, and while I'm not using Fedora Core, I've had similar (if not the same problems).

On boot, add the options "acpi=off" and "noapic" to the kernel boot options. This may get it working for you.

Sure, disabling the power management control really sucks (as such the computer can't even turn itself off), but it's better than not runing at all.

Also note, unless you have kernel version 2.6.11 or higher the system will run horribly slow... but I'm sure you do, otherwise you probably wouldn't be having the problems you're having.
