SuSE 9.1 won't install because of Silicon Image 3512 SATA controller

I have a Gigabyte GA-7N400 Pro 2 (revision 2.0) mainboard which has a Silicon Image Sil3512 SATA controller.
On that particular controller I have a Seagate disk.

When I try to install SuSE 9.1 Yast2 detects an unknow controller device but loads the module sata_sli for it.
The thing works fine with formatting and partitionating the disk but after the installation of one or two packages it just blockes!
This happens every single time!
I even tried Mandrake 10.0 (loading the module during installation) but that doesn't work either!

Please help!
