Unhappy SuSe 9.1 TFT Monitor Problem

Hi all,

I am a newbe to linux and I have just installed SuSE 9.1 in my computer with the following config:

Intel 3 GHz Processor
Intel 915GAV Motherboard
SATA 80 GB HDD
Samsung 510N TFT Monitor

The problem is, whenever I start linux, I get a resolution of 800x600@75Hz. In windows i get 1024x798@60Hz. The icons look real big in Linux. How do I set 1024x798 without ruining my installation. The monitor name is not listed in the list of monitors in sax2.

please healp me out

bye
Abhishek

I'm running Suse 9.2 with a TFT monitor. Was the TFT monitor used during the installation? Which desktop environment are you running?

Try to change your monitor preferences through YAST, it should work fine.

hi,

gareth:
"Was the TFT monitor used during the installation? "
what do you mean by this? I could not understand

Anyways, I reinstalled SuSE, this tine at the start of the installation i selected 1024x798 by pressing F2. It is working fine now, although sometimes the font does not look so good.
bye
