SUSE 9.1 Personal Dial-Up issues

I have SUSE 9.1 Personal installed on my PC. I have a MultiMobile USB 56k (MultiTech) modem that I am trying to use. Linux recognises the modem and lets me configure it but I can't figure out how to connect. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions/help as to how to resolve this issue.

What program are you using to access the modem?
If you are using KDE then configure your modem using kppp then hit the connect button
