Suse 9.1 Graphics card
Operating system: Suse 9.1
Graphics card: Intel chip-set on the mother board (not selected in the bios) NVidia GeForce 4 (selected in the bois) Machine: P3 900MHz emachine with Linux as the only OS. Monitor: HP Pavilion M50 D5258A monitor With that said, I cannot afford a new graphics card or monitor. When I boot up, I get the normal emachine splash screen on boot up. The boot menu comes up fine, but when I select Linux, it kicks into self diagnostic mode for a little bit, and then KDE loads fine. Also, I would like to get the NVidia drivers working. Any help will be greatly appreciated. |
Anyone have any ideas? If I the runlevel to 3 (researched it), it switches to the AGP (not selected in bios and it's the Intel chip-set on the mother board).

I have been doing more research. Since I don't see the usual start up text after selecting linux (i.e. the all of the system start up reading or what ever SUSE does) and I need to switch to the other monitor port when I go to text mode (run level 3), I think my linux system is not configure properly for text mode. What determines the graphics card used for the start up output and text mode? I am still too new to linux to know where to look. Can someone help me. I think this is the problem I have been facing.
