SuSE 9.1 freezes when plugging in USB devices
I've got a MSI Hermes 651 with SiS 651 chipset.
Whenever I plug an USB device (hub, flash memory, Cordless Desktop base) into frontside or backside plugs the system freezes immediately. Cursor freezes, keyboard dead, ping doesn't succeeds. When starting with a device plugged in, the last system message is: loading ACPI modules [...] Starting powersaved but starting Hotplug and Coldplug are marked as "done" I've also got an USB powered mini switch which still gets power, but also tried without it. Windows XP works fine (supports the hardware correctly) Debian3.0 Woody and Knoppix 3.4 have no problems with USB (but have heavy problems with the integrated graphic/monitor) |
tried booting with
pci=noacpi NOHOTPLUG=1 and loading the modules manually modprobe ohci-hcd modprobe usbcore modprobe hid and keyboard/mice seem to work So, now I've got to automate this workaround or to further locate the error. Is there any use for the hotplug daemon? |
