Angry SuSE 8.2 installation kernel panic with promise 20276 onboard RAID Controller

I am trying to install SuSE 8.2 on my new system. I got the driver disk from promise.com for the fasttrak tx2000 which is the pci eqivalent of the onboard 20276. The drivers they had for redhat worked just fine, however, since I don't like redhat, i got the drivers for SuSE and followed the same instructions. I get the error "Kernel Panic: unable to mount root partition at the original boot". Any help would be appreciated because I don't want to be stuck with windoze.
