Suse 8.1 fails to detect my monitor

Hello

I installed Suse 8.1 on my pc, however the installation fails to detect my monitor (Dell 15 inch Flat Screen e151fp) and as a result to selects a very big screen resolution 640x480. Not matter what I try I cant seem to change this, I cant do it on Yast, no matter what resolution I select it fails the validation test.

I also tried to modify the XF86Config file but this doesnt seem to make any difference. If I force the pc to use a higher resolution eg 1024x768 it displays a error message during boot up saying that it is unable to display the video mode. This happens even if I insert the correct vertical and horizonal refresh frequencies.

The following is the relevant part of my config file
