Suse 10 ,usbatm: module not supported by Novell, setting U taint flag

I installed SUSE 10, I'm trying to setup my ADSL modem Zoom 5510A but I got an error at boot time that Novel don't support USB -ATM.
Also I tried to check any USB device but I got the error "/proc/usb/devices not found check your kernel"
I have these problems:
1) there is no /proc/bus/usb/devices , the path already exists without the devices file
2) Although it is listed in the fstab, it is not mounted at start up.
3) the lsusb hangs
4) when I did dmesg:
usbatm: module not supported by Novell, setting U taint flag
5) my flash disk was mounted successfully.
Can anyone explain the above problems?

Please help me...
Thanks

Well as the error message said, it seems to me that USB support is missing or something...

now it detected my USB modem but I don't know how to make it works, can you help?

Could you give more details? Have you tried something like wvdial or KPPP to try out your modem?

Actually I'm a newbie , so I need to know how to use any of these tools. I know that my modem is detected because it is listed in the USB devices list but I don't know how to contact it, I hope you can help.
Thanks

Look on your main menu, under the 'Internet' category of applications, and you should see an entry for KPPP. This is the program used to dial out - run it, press the 'Configure' button to add a new connection, and see if your modem's detected in the modem list (sorry for the un-detailed directions, I'm sort of in a hurry). If it isn't detected, or you can't figure out how to do this, just post again.

Hi,
I faced a simliar problem of the missing "devices" file. Found that usb was set to manual mode in the fstab file.

Am guessing the problem maybe with the fstab file for you too.
Check out ur /etc/fstab file. If it contains the following line

usbfs /proc/bus/usb usbfs noauto 0 0

Change that "noauto" to "auto" and manually remount usb (or simply reboot ;) ). it should work.

Joe.
