I have an older computer that does not support sata, so wehn I was given a new Liteon SHM-165S6S SATA dvd burner, I purchased a SATA raid controller card, Rosewill RC-209 with a Silicon Image Sil3114 chipset. The controller seems to be working but the actual dvd burner is never found, not even by the controller during bootup. The best I can get is from dmesg after I unplug the drive power and plug it back in:

Prior to that I get this in dmesg, and that's about it, I never get any devices associated with it.

I have contacted Rosewill concerning SATA dvd and tech support didn't know until they check out the chipset used in the Lite-On SHM-165S6S
