Sunami External USB 2.0 HDD caddy, Hitachi 40gb drive

I'm having problems getting my Linux box to see a external 2.5 HDD

The device is a Sunami Deva External USB 2.0 HDD caddy, with a Hitachi 40gb drive.

I'm running

Redhat version 9, kernel version is 2.4.20-8 - modules loaded usbcore, usb-storage, usb-uhci.

The caddy says that it's windows 98, 2000 & XP compatible, however I'd like to get this drive working under Linux. Drives works OK under XP & requires no driver.

Kind Regards

What's "dmesg" read with the puppy plugged in and the modules loaded?

Also, try this script:

tends to kickstart detection of recalcitrant devices like iPods.

Also, this is a USB 2.0 port right? Shouldn't you have: ehci-hcd.o loaded?
