Sun keyboard on hp laptop via targus serial port replicator
I'm running ubuntu 12.04 on hp g60 laptop with a targus serial port replicator to usb
custom cable keyboard to targus is..
i modprobe sunkbd
nothing works for type 5. the type 5c beeps when i plug it in or boot up but none of the keys work what am i missing? i've pluged the type 5c in via the mini din plug under the keyboard that is for the mouse because you can't detach the 5c cable from the keyboard.
Is the port replicator being recognized correctly? Is some form of USB serial device being created (i.e. /dev/ttyUSB0)?
If you really have a type 5 keyboard then you can not plug it directly into the replicator. The output of the keyboard is TTL which requires a level shifter to work with RS-232 levels.
i'll look into that but i don't think it's worth the hassle.
thank you for the reply!
