Strange USB Hub problem in Linux

I am using Fedora Core 2 on my Thinkpad X30, and I have an external USB Hub connected to one of the two USB ports. The problem is:

If I boot up Linux with the USB Hub plugged in, the sound card would not work. If I click the play button in XMMS, it plays so fast that there is no sound at all!

But if I boot up Linux with the USB Hub NOT plugged in, and after I startup GNOME, I plug in the USB Hub, everything works fine.

What could be the problem here?

What I have plugged into the USB hub is:
1. Sony Clie SJ33
2. Logitech keyboard
3. Logitech mouse
4. Logitech webcam

I think it might be the webcam that is causing the problem, cuz the webcam has a microphone inside, this may cause the problem.

Somebody can tell me how to debug this problem such as what file to check for the USB output informaiton during bootup or when I plug in the hub?

Well, after such a long time, I finally see it working and I don't know why. :-)

It all happened after I upgraded to the 2.6.10 kernel. Though I don't use Linux often on my Laptop, it is still good to know.
