Strange read issue with DVD drive.

Hi again

I'm having strange read issues with my DVD drive. I've not tested DVDs yet, but just reading copied CDs is proving problemattic.

The main issue is reading large files. Small files (less than a couple of megs) is fine, but anything large, say over 10Mb, comes up with an "Input - Output error".

I think I've got everything setup properly. I've got scsi-emulation on both my DVD and CDRW drives, I've got the fstab file set up correctly - they're located at /dev/sr0 for my CDRW and /dev/sr1 for my DVD... but still there's this niggly error!

Any ideas?

what kind of word is that? sounds negative.

On your actual issue, does your kernel support reading of UDF file system? This is what DVDs need in order to be viewed.

I'm not sure. I'm using kernel 2.4.2, the standard with Slack-9.1. I'm guessing it has, because it will read small-ish files (<10Mb). It just has trouble with larger ones.

However, I currently can't do any testing on that - my main - box. Its just decided to completely stop working all-together. I think either the PSU or the MBoard is buggered.
