Strange error with PVR500 and grub

I recently recieved my PVR 500 in the mail. My plan is to add it to my mythtv box which already has a PVR350. Anyway I install the card and turn on the computer and grub gets to

Load Stage 1.5.....

and then it does 1 of 4 things. Sometimes it hangs and does nothing, and other times it errors out with error number 16,17, or 18. If I remove the card it boots fine.

Another intersesting thing I noticed while trying to figure out what was wrong with my grub was when I have the pvr 500 card in sometimes my cdrom/dvd drives won't boot off a bootable media.

Anyone know what might be wrong?

Thanks

My guess is your mainboard doesn't like the card or the card is dead.

Potential Solutions:
1. Change which slot the card is in.
2. RMA the card

I once had a similar problem with a winmodem. The computer just wouldn't work with it. I ended up building a brand new computer for my friend a result. He gave me his old parts, and I having no use for the modem removed it and tried one final test on the board it worked.
Anyway try to put this card into another pc. The card might require some special treatment (RMA-exchange). I hope for your sake that an RMA will take care of it.

Also make sure you ground yourself when installing it. If you need me to explain the proper procedure just say so. (I dont know your experience level with hardware) I am alsmot a qualified tech. Just have to get some certifications. (my dad is a qualified tech though...)
He helped with this post.

Hope this helps.
