Stereo problems - SB live, audacity and others
I'm hoping some sound guru can help me figure this out.
When recording a stereo track with audactiy, (stereo, 44100 hz, 32-bit float) both the
right and left channel appears (visually) to have sound. When I play it, sound comes
from both the right, left, and center speaker with accpected volumes.
When I pan all the way to the left, nothing that I can tell changes. When I pan twords
the right, the volume decreases steadily/proportionatally untill its gone.
I've checked everything I can think of. alsamixer, cables to speakers, etc. It also
happens using xmms - since I've never changed the balance from center, I have never
noticed the problem until today.
If the right speaker works when the balance is centred , how/why do I loose the right
channel when I take away the left channel?
I'm using a SB live (EMU10k1), alsa 1.0.8.
Any ideas? I'm guessing I'm missing something really easy - but I can't find it.
