sprint modems question and a warning

using ubuntu tried a sprint modem with alleged linux compatablility apparently sprints and sierra wirelless definition of compatable means they know how to make their devices lock up my system

i checked both tmobile and att and both claim no usb linux support

are there any gsm modems out their for linux at least the rpm and debian distros

also how much pressure and where to get some linux hardware from these two giants???

Helped the OP get his virgin mobile 3G dongle working under Linux . . . Same procedure MAY work for similar devices, but I can't say for sure.
