split video screen after installing Red Hat linux 7.3

Can someone please help. I installed Linux 7.3 on a generic system. I have a 2mb S3 video card installed on the system. When I did the testing of the video card before finishing the installation it looked fine. I tried it at 1024 X 700 and at 800 x 600 resolution. Once I finshed the installationand the system rebooted the screen was split. What should be on the left side of the screen was on the right and vice versa. Do I need to get a new video card? Thanks

No, your vid card sould be fine, but your settings might be out of wack for that card. Try running xfconfig or what Redhat comes with and reconfigure the card. 2mb is pretty tight on resources, maybe running at 800x600x16 might be reasonable, rather than 24/32 bit color. See the xfree documents for configuring Xfree and even 'upgrading' to the latest X package/RPM.

Have fun! Caveat: There are 'many' types of S3 cards, right down the chip number off the card, and read your 'dmesg' output closely to see exactly what S3 chip you have, then compare that to the documentation/config's you are reading/setting up.
