Speedtouch Setup - Ubuntu

I have just installed Ubuntu Linux and it is amazing really clean and simple just as Linux should be. However I still can't get my Silver Speedtouch modem to run properly.

I have it working succesfully on Mandrake 10.

I have had the modem working fine previously except for the error Module: USB_OHCI missing. It still works however. However when ever I get it working fine and then restart the computer it doesn't work at all and I can't even run the reconfigure script any more. Because after restarting it says that /etc/ppp does not exist ... but it does.

I can get it working each time by deleting all the config files and then restarting. But obviously doing this each time I start up is a right pain.

If anybody has a simple way of getting it to work from a fresh install point that would be most useful, as I am thinking of doing a fresh install of it soon with a change of hard drive.

Thanks in advance.

Okay so after having a futher look round I have found that the main porblem is usb-ohci is now called ohci-hcd or something. How do I get the 'speedtouchconf.sh' script to recognise the new name?
