then you will need to know what spec's the monitor has like vertical frequency ranges, horizontal refresh ranges and max resolution.

you will also need to know what video controller the sparc has if it's not listed and then of course how much memory it has.

and then the pointer and keyboard need to be entered into the config util as well.

For complete info about xf86config you can consult the wiki here or the link in my signature, The Linux Documentation Project HOWTO's, or if not those places there is also xf86.org or x.org

How XF86Config works is not the problem.
Just what driver to use for my ultra sparc.
so far still did't get it to work.

Now I'm recompiling the kernel becoughs I think some modules where missing...

Solution:
The video chipset in the U5 and U10 is Mach64 but the version of
XFree86 in Splack-8.0 does not support this chipset.
You need to remove the XFree86 packages and replace it with the
packages at
ftp://ftp.splack.org/pub/splackbacku.../XFree86-3.3.6

You will also need /etc/X11/XF86Config
ftp://ftp.splack.org/pub/splack/devel/crn/
