Hi I'm runing Mandrake 10.0 on my HP Pavillion zv5150 notebook. Everything seem to work fine. The only problem I'm facing is with the integrated soundmax soundcard. I would be glad if someone could help me find drivers for ma soundmax sound card.
Have you tried installing ALSA? ALSA will probably do job fine, just follow installing instructions you get with tarball.
Also, you should browse your laptop manual to see what chipset your sound card uses.
(I have Soundmax sound card on ASUS A7V8X-MX motherboard and ALSA works fine.)
Hey there... I have exactly the same issue... except my notebook is a zv5034us HP model. Have you found a solution yet. I tried installing the alsa driver, but the instructions are rather sketchy for someone who has not done this before. I followed them as best I could, but every time I try to modprobe the driver, it says it can't find it.
I am having a problem like the rest of you. I have a zv5120us and I am having a heck of a time getting the sound working. Right now I have it to the point where it will play music or sound, but it constantly sounds like a cd skipping.
Here is an lspci

Also sometimes my computer starts with the mute button (the one below the touchpad) lit up, which makes my soundcard look like it isn't even there. If anyone has any ideas on this the help would be much appreciated
For the modprobe command, go to /usr/src/<linux kernel> and run menuconfig, and turn modules on, that should solve that. Then, at the alsa website, look up the compatible drivers and click on details - it should give rather useful instructions to install it - my soundcard works, but its still a bit sketchy, just needs some fine tuning. (I did have the same problem - on a zv5034 as well, too).
Hello. I have FreeBSD. If I don't get the sound card working before 10 am, my step father will reformat my hard disk (I am serious about this, too). I have ALSA, and followed the instructions at http://www.alsa-project.org/main/ind...undcardTesting, but no sound came out. Could anyone help with this before 5 pm UTC?
Ok. It works. But the sound isn't even recongnisable. I Really hope this is acceptable.
Hi...
If it's scatchy, I kind of doubt it. This is a very old thread, if you want further help, try posting a new thread over at the BSD forum, if you were able to get an extension on your deadline.
Regards...
