soundmax 4xl driver


When i install Redhat9,there was no sound,my built in sound card is soundmax 4xl.Any body know how to solve this problem.

soundmax turns up quite a bit here, but, it's really just a brand name. what you'll need to know to get your drivers is the chipset. open a terminal, and issue the command

/sbin/lspci -v

copy and paste the results here. that will give us the chipset, we can work on the driver from there. hope that points you in the right direction.

ok, done a little googling, if /sbin/lspci -v returns

anolog devices ad1985, which is what the soundmax website says it is, then one of these should be your driver
