Hey, my set-up should be included as sig.
Problem: Everything works great with my new box except sound.
The drivers seem to be working. I have my CD plers sound connected to my mainboard and I can listen to music CD's in the drive.
I ran:

bash#alsamixer
bash#alsactl start
and sound is there but Im not sure KDE is yet configured properly
because the output sound jack on the motherboard is muted.
If I plug speakers or headphones in, I get nothin.
As I say, sound is fine if I plug headphines into the CD drive
My hunch( having read som previous posts)
It is KDE mixer setting. Do I need to run 'kmix'.
It is an XMMS server setting. I really don't know about XMMS.
It is a permissions problem - run chmod on the device. (I dont think this is it. I'm always root)
Any ideas
Im using the onboard sound with Via K8T800.
I believe its like 1 or 2 settings max (something simple) or else the output jack is simply busted - hope not.
