sound problems

Whenever I try to turn the volume up on the mixer, it mutes that speaker! what can I do? It does this no matter what sound card configuration I'm using! my linux distro is SUSE 10

are your drivers for linux up2date.

maybe your gain/pcm is set tooo hi.

sorry i don't know specifics... sometimes playing with the switches helps.

keep something playing while you adjust to make it easier to see were prob is coming from.
