Maybe it's set to mute? Did you check your mixers and volume control?

How did you notice there is no sound? Playing mp3, or movies.... Were there any errors while doing that?

Well, I installed Mand 10, and my sound won't work either. It's not mute, it's just terrible, hissing, spitting, and the hint of the melodie somewhere in the background. Sounds to me like a sampling rate problem. Using KDE 3.2, I clicked all kinds of green lamps on and off, to no avail!
Any hints??
I ran alsaconf. No problems indicated.

My sound card, if you meant me, is an SB , Ensoniq the driver is snd-ens1371, don't know what motherboard, but it has an Intel 2.6 P4. The card works fine under win, so it's not broken
Do you know which config files may need to be altered??

You didn't say how you notice that drivers are not loaded.
