sound just won't work

hi..

I'm having troubles getting my soundcard to work...

I have recompiled my kernel, and after that I have reinstalled the alsadriver...
But I get a error message after running alsaconf:

Loading driver...
Loading ALSA kernel modules.
/lib/modules/2.4.22/kernel/sound/acore/snd.o.gz: unresolved symbol unregister_sound_special
/lib/modules/2.4.22/kernel/sound/acore/snd.o.gz: unresolved symbol register_sound_special
/lib/modules/2.4.22/kernel/sound/acore/snd.o.gz: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.22/kernel/sound/acore/snd.o.gz failed
/lib/modules/2.4.22/kernel/sound/acore/snd.o.gz: insmod snd-emu10k1 failed
Setting default volumes...

And then it says I'm able to use my soundcard... But I can't, it still won't work!

Don't use the ALSA garbage........goto the sourceforge.net site and get the emu10k1 driver and emu-tools!! this is the best driver for SB live card.............

okay, I installed the emu10k1 driver and tools.. But when I run emu-configure I get this:

root@vallby:/home/apax/temp/emu10k1-v0.20a# emu-config
/dev/mixer: No such device

I looked it up, and /dev/mixer does exist..
