i tried a forum search on this but found zip. i know what im about to type is going to be incredibly vague because quite frankly i cant see anything thats physically wrong, although i am a newbie so bear with me. youre going to have to ask me to provide you with some stuff here in order to solve this, so just tell me what.
anyway.... going around all the linux distros i can, so i installed Xandros. and quite frankly i love it to bits, its really simple and does a lot ofnthings for you (including ATi drivers, which is very nice). now, according to my KControl panel, my soundcars are detected, installed and loaded all fine. but i get no sound. i use a SoundBlaster Live! 24bit soundcard, along wth my VIA oboard AC97. speakres are plugged into the SB at the moment. i have tried both devices thougha nd neither output any sound. the soundblaster is using the ca0106 module from ALSA which has worked on every other distro ive tried.
now, i feel this is just an incredibly simple case of finding some options somewhere and changing them, but i have no idea how to configure stuff on here, my KControl panel has no buttons or anything that lets me change stuff, but according to the help file it should do. and yes i am logged in as root. if anyone has any ideas, please let me know. ta.
ive tried going through the mixers and stuff, everything is as it should be, turned up full, nothing muted. ive since reinstalled and disabled my onboard sound to avoid any conflicts and still nothing.
ive tried both alsamixer and kmix and both are identical. i havent found any "enable/disable" options lingering around KDE though.
yes, my speakers are connected correctly. consider from now on that every connection i have is working. i dual boot with windows and on windows, my sound works perfectly fine.
