Are you using gnome or kde? I spent ages trying to get sound working in fc5 once and the issue was that wen kde started, it loaded its own default levels before using my own, so it stoped the card working. Just a thought. Also, have you tryed fiddling with the levels in alsamixer from the terminal, not just the gui one? You're using the alsa driver for sound yeh?

I m using GNOME ....... well when i open volume control -> use (forgetting whats the menu name) i get two option
0)Realtek
1)Alsa.

tried both .....but nothing works

ah, so, do you have a realtek motherboard with onboard sound and a seperate ati soundcard?

Did you go to alsamixer from terminal? made sure everything is turned up (while using the alsa driver)

Melz_Dark_Angel 08-07-2006 09:50 AM

oh and output of /sbin/lsmod ?

hasmukh 08-07-2006 10:04 AM

onboard sound card

not everything is up in alsamixer.... i mean what i can modify is main-volume and mic and everything else were 00

hey, if you haven't got it working yet, have you checked all the modules you need are loaded /sbin/lsmod ?
