sound card question

I'm building an mp3 server to house all my mp3's so i can listen to them when ever i want even if i'm playing a game on my other computer. I know soundblaster live works well with linux, but I have a new THX 5.1 system so i need a sound card that is compatible with that. I've looked in to both the audigy and extergy, both look good, but haven't heard any praise or complaints from linux users about them. If anyone has had problems with either of those cards pls let me know before i buy them. Thanks

I would go with the Audigy. The Audigy driver from sourceforge works great, plus Mandrake supports it even thought you might get a soundcard not detected message at the end of the installation. I haven't tried 5.1 with the Audigy driver in Linux but I hope to soon when I get new speakers

I found this page, http://www.lirc.org/remotes/creative/ it looks like it addresses the remote problem.
BTW, nice budget, I wanted the platinum but settled for the X-Gamer

Ummm...this seems to address it, but....what do I do with this?
I am very new to linux and this doesnt have meaning to me...what would I do with it?

Oh yea, I have an RM-900 type remote for my audigy drive, if that has any significance to installation instuctions.

Thanks in advance
