Angry sound card not working for fedora 5/ pcqlinux 2006


hello all


i am having problem with sound card , it doesnt work with pcq2006 linux kernel 2.6.15-1.1831_FC4 infact also with fedora Core 5 same problem i getting.

it gives icon on taskbar with red cross mark on if click it gives
No volume control elements and/or devices found.

if i go for sound card detection using it gives.

# sytem-config-soundcard
system-config-soundcard
Invalid card number.
Usage: amixer <options> command

and pop up screen sound card cant be discovered on the system.

along with error message.

ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:1305_snd_pcm_hw_open) Invalid value for card
aplay: main:544: audio open error: No such device

#lspci
[root@amd ~]# lspci

i checked the modules also ,i cant get sound out of my system
please help

Hi, try running "alsaconf" as root in a terminal

hello
i am not getting alsaconf
these are alsa related command avaliable on my system.
# alsa
alsacard alsalisp alsamixer alsaunmute

hi, the only thing I can suggest is to study /etc/mdprobe.conf and /etc/modules.conf in debian and redhat, see if you can get it working by using their configs. If alsaconf doesn't exist then I guess the only way to fix it is manually. Sorry I can't be of more help :/
