Cirrus Logic CS 4614/22/24 can't output system-event sounds

Please help:

No system-event sounds. Files of types .ogg and .wav play successfully in Totem. CDROM-audio fine. "Frozen Bubble"-audio fine. No Gnometris audio. All mixer channels open.

Are you sure that system sounds has been enabled?
System -> Preferences -> Sound -> "Sounds" tab -> enable "ESD" and "System Sounds"
