Angry Sound Blaster Live! Dell doesn't work

Just installed Fedora Core 2 and installed the updates. Of course my Dell version of the Sound Blaster Live! does not work. Tried installing alsa-driver-1.0.7rcl, alsa-lib-1.0.7rcl, alsa-utils-1.0.6rcl sound still does not work. Am I missing something or is there a better driver or better way to do this?

You need to download the OSS drivers. I had the exact same problem and it took me a few days to figure out...

http://www.opensound.com/download.cgi

kernal specific. type 'SBLive' in the search box.

Red face

Yeah, I actually got my sound card to work this morning...I was missing some plugins. I now have sound, but I can't get sound when I play a cd and xmms distorts the sound when I try playing sound files.

sound problems buzzing etc

I had problems with sound , and this was my solution: I use xmms on KDE Mandrake 9.1

Buzzing sound during plaiyng applications could be wrong sampling rate. After two mounts buzzing my onboard VIA 83xx plays now good sound. Certains soundcards needs specific sampling rates. My VIA needs 48000 Hz, SB needs 22050, and so on. I have an ECS K7VMM and this was my way on KDE:
start-configuration-control center-sound-sound system. Set: sound i/o : Advanced Linux ... (ALSA), set: use custom sampling rate: 48000 (put here your specific matching your soundcard/card onboard). set: sound quality: autodetect. Set apply and quit.

All information was taken on www.zago.eti.br/som-alsa.txt - a readable helper brazilian portuguese text. good look.
