I have run alsaconf and configured my soundcard and also raised the volume on alsamixer, but when i play a sound the sound comes weird, and also my 6.1 columuns don't work properly.
I have the same problem the only thing i have come up with so far is that linux does not support any thing higher the 2.1 sound. Since creative doesnt make drivers for our cards in linux we can not get the sound that we can get in windows.
Now if you have a mother board with 5.1 chipset then you may be differnt. (to all who come here and say im wrong). But im guessing if creative ever made a driver we would be in business. But ive tried on several occasion to get the sound working like it does in windows and well doesnt work.
what you can do how ever if your with kilpsih you can get a amplifer and it can convert 2.1 sound into 5.1 sound and from what ive heard it can do it pretty effecintly. Ive looked at the product and it doesnt look like it needs a driver (its standalone) so i reckon you wont need to do anything but plug it up and go. But.. no ordnarly creative sound blasters do not get anything more the 2.1 sound (on linux).
